Interesting you mention innovation as something positive with capitalism. It’s easy to point at all the innovation we have but impossible to point at the innovation we don’t have.

If an innovation is not profitable , who will invest in it ?

I agree that capitalism is very good for innovation if you mean stupid crap that people don’t need like selfie-sticks for example.

Scientists have made tests to see if profit is good for the motivation. I think the conclusion was that it is pretty lousy for most people. It was something about the brain and that it is programmed to work best if the reward is instant. Like a slot machine .

Maybe you are upset cause it’s so darn clear that capitalism in it’s current form is like an art exhibition of “innovation” .

If I want to buy tobacco it’s not like in the 50’s when the store had one kind of tobacco and it was good. Now it’s 100 different kinds of tobacco that are more or less the same. The whole city is filled with wall sized foodies of the same german dishes of meat in bread. A bit of a waste if capitalism makes people so innovative. I think it is a bit sane to hope that the whole world don’t become this ugly.
BTW it’s capitalism that has caused the scarcity of new sources of food, since all of our food comes from six main sources. Capitalism is about convenience, profit and instant gratification. Not a good recipe for long term viability.

I agree that capitalism isn’t the main driver of innovation. Curiosity is. I have a deep desire to separate science from capitalism for this very reason- capitalism taints innovation.

Also, just look at the scourge that is fast food, violence in movies and video games, etc.- how people are becoming obese and prone to violence, and you’ll see all the side effects of putting profitability first.

I mean isn´t the opposite of “No more war” naturally “USA” “USA” “USA” ? ClintonII and her folks seem really progressive.

Wonder if that guy came also up with the propaganda idea of “freedom fries” for ClintonII IRaqwar, which was also bizarr at best.
It makes me think her speech was a big fraud.

Is freedom fries some sort of fast food? It sounds like a sure fire recipe for a heart attack!
