GMOs are dangerous. Unlike your article that you posted which was published in a magazine which owns major stocks in Monsanto and by a writer who has always been biased, all of these are scientific studies and it’s why GMOs are now banned throughout Europe and starting to become labeled even here- Connecticut just passed a labelling law and New York is next! Monsanto doesn’t want labeling because they dont want people to know what’s in their food just like they didn’t want anyone to know about the PCBs and Mercury they were putting in the ground water of Anniston, Alabama for over 40 years! And this guy Henry Miller works for the FDA? Please. Both the FDA and USDA have been exposed countless times for letting companies like Monsanto go unregulated because the people who work for them (cough Michael Taylor cough) also work for that company- or used to. How stupid does this man think we are that he thinks he can hoodwink us? There’s a reason these so-called “conventional” GMO products are being outlawed throughout Europe, Asia and South America and we’re finally starting to label them here. Because the company behind them hides its research (and for good reason) and whenever unbiased scientific research is done, it shows exactly how the chemicals GMOs are treated with increase the likelihood of everything from leukemia to autism to birth defects. There is plenty of research even on the government’s own NIH website showing this, the above is just a small inkling of what I was able to find in a few minutes. So when you talk to a real scientist, that isn’t in the pay of the big corporations, a Monsanto lackey, you’ll hear the truth.

wow at that idiot who thinks it’s “unscientific” that Monsanto be banned- Monsanto is the same company that poisoned the environment with Agent Orange, the same company that dumped PCBs and Mercury into the reservoirs of Anniston, Alabama, the same evil company that drives farmers to commit suicide, the same evil company that uses Blackwater monkeys to bully organic companies. The ONLY reason they get away with it in this country is because their people work in the regulatory agencies here (Michael Taylor, Clarence Thomas)- it’s the plutocracy of this country that allows the cancer that is and caused by Monsanto to exist. This idiotic “nonscience” argument is the same one made by the Tobacco companies back in the 60s. Wake up people. REAL SCIENCE, not American science, which is tainted by the same big money that caused Celebrex and Vioxx and Avandia to be allowed in this country, amidst thousands of reports of heart attack deaths and black listing by pharmaceutical companies, Monsanto is of the same ilk. I’m glad to see American consumers take things into their hands and cause labeling of these carcinogenic products since our lawmakers clearly dont have the balls to do it. The government needs to fear the people not the other way around. That’s whow true democracy works, not the plutocracy we have been living under. Monsanto’s science is big money- pure and simple. They conduct their own studies regulated by their own people. Hm, nice little conflict of interest we have going there with the USDA and FDA, now dont we? Especially since these drug cartels have their people working for these regulatory bodies and are bribing both political parties.

A new report reveals that not only are GMO activists being targeted by various news media hit pieces, but that those seeking to regain the food supply are also the targets of the US military and the US government at large.

Stemming from a German newspaper known as Süddeutsche Zeitung, the July 13th edition of the paper unleashed the bombshell news from overseas — perhaps not fearing the repercussions of discussing the information within German borders. And while it may not be news to readers across the pond who are already a bit more aware of the US’s situation than even American citizens themselves, the report has been translated and is being shared around the web.

One alternative news website, Sustainable Pulse, actually went ahead and archived the paper and the subsequent report on the subject. Going under the report headline “The Sinister Monsanto Group: ‘Agent Orange’ to Genetically Modified Corn,” the paper report goes on to detail the mounting ‘cyber war’ that is currently being launched on activists from all sides of the spectrum — with a major focus on those who dare to protest Monsanto and GMOs. And with the incredible success of movements like the March Against Monsanto and the upcoming Monsanto Video Revolt, that means millions are being targeted in this ‘cyber war’.

Perhaps I am a prime suspect for my extensive work in raising the alarm over Monsanto, GMOs, and the downright political corruption that has led to taxpayers actually paying for Monsanto’s marketing strategy internationally. We’re talking CDs and marketing pamphlets paid for with your taxpayer dollars. But this behavior coincides with announcements we’ve seen in the past that complaining about your tap water will get you flagged as a terrorist.

Here’s some quotes from the report:

”Monsanto contacts are known to the notorious former secret service agent Joseph Cofer Black, who helped formulate the law of the jungle in the fight against terrorists and other enemies. He is a specialist on dirty work, a total hardliner. He worked for the CIA for almost three decades, among other things as the head of anti-terroism. He later became vice president of the private security company Blackwater, which sent tens of thousands of soldiers to Iraq and Afghanistan under US government orders.”

The writers then go on to discuss Monsanto’s control of the US government, specifically the WikiLeaks report I’ve covered extensively that revealed top US politicians were threatening ‘military style trade wars’ against nations that refused to adopt Monsanto’s GMOs:

“For example, in 2007, the former US ambassador in Paris, Craig Stapleton, suggested the US government should create a penalties list for EU states which wanted to forbid the cultivation of genetically engineered plants from American companies. The wording of the secret dispatch: “Country team Paris recommends that we calibrate a target retaliation list that causes some pain across the EU.” Pain, retaliation: not exactly the language of diplomacy.

And how the US plans to use trade agreements to push Monsanto further:

”The Americans want to use the Free Trade Agreement to open the European GMO Market. The negotiations will be detailed. Toughness will rule the day. US President Barack Obama has therefore appointed Islam Siddiqui as chief negotiator for agriculture. He has worked for many years for the US ministry of agriculture as an expert. However, hardly anyone in Europe knows: From 2001 to 2008, he represented CropLife America as a registered lobbyist. CropLife America is an important industry association in the United States, representing the interests of pesticide and gene technology manufacturers – including of course Monsanto.”

The fact of the matter is that if you’re a GMO activist who has followed the news regarding the corrupt biotech juggernaut that is Monsanto for any period of time, this report may not surprise you. The general public, however, is still not fully aware of how deep Monsanto’s roots truly go when it comes to political control.

There are lots of ‘scientists,’ otherwise known as the academics on Monsanto’s payroll, who keep spouting the preposterous statement that there is no real science to back up the claims that GMO are bad for our health, but yet another study says otherwise.

Recently published in the Journal of Hematology & Thromboembolic Diseases, the study underscores the potential ‘leukemogenic’ properties of the Bt toxin biopesticides used in almost all GMO foods that are currently planted on more than 3.9 million acres of crops in the US. Many of these crops are shipped to other countries who have not yet banned GM foods from their imports, so the prevalence of their use on US soil affects the whole planet.

Just a few months ago, references to GMO were made by scientists in France who conducted a study that pinpointed Monsanto’s genetically engineered corn, called NK603, as a major cancer-causing agent. Rats developed cancerous tumors the size of ping-pong balls. The study was called into question; however by academics under Monsanto’s reign.

Now, the study states that the biopesticides engineered into crops like corn, soy, sugar cane, etc. carry what is known as Bacillus Thuringiensis (Bt), also called Cry-toxins, which contribute to all sorts of health problems including:

Blood abnormalities
Hematological malignancies (blood cancers), i.e. leukemia
Suppression of bone marrow proliferation
Abnormal lymphocyte patterns
Furthermore, Bt toxins used in prevalent GMOs can target mammalian cells, particularly of the erythroid lineage (red blood cells) which results in damage to the cells that is significant enough to start as anemia, and end up as cancer. Also, Cry toxins were found to be capable of exerting their damaging effects even when suspended in distilled water, and did not require alkalinization through an insect’s physiological form to become activated. Put simply, this means that while Cry toxins may have been developed to kill bugs, they kill us.

How can these studies keep being denied? Scientist Michael Spector recently gave a profound Ted Talks speech about the danger of scientists denying the problems with GMO food. Another scientist, Dr. Theirry Vrain also gives a TED Talks lecture on the true damage that GMOs can do, even though they were once looked to as a positive, viable option to increase world food supply. Monsanto-funded studies, however, continue to spew ‘science’ about the benign nature of GMOs. When will this corporation stop lying to the masses?

Maybe this is why the World Health Organization still says GMOs are completely safe:

“GM foods currently available on the international market have passed risk assessments and are not likely to present risks for human health. In addition, no effects on human health have been shown as a result of the consumption of such foods by the general population in the countries where they have been approved. Continuous use of risk assessments based on the Codex principles and, where appropriate, including post market monitoring, should form the basis for evaluating the safety of GM foods.”

Greenpeace is speaking up for the general public, by telling the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that they have no right to claim that GMOs are safe for Americans, or anyone else. Some call Greenpeace a militant environmentalist group, but with the recent science coming out about how harmful pesticides are to pollinators, and therefore a large portion of the food supply, Greenpeace would more appropriately be called sane or conscientious.

The FDA and Monsanto have repeatedly told us that GMOs are safe to eat and pose no risk to the environment, but numerous scientific studies are calling that backwards logic into question. Daniel Ocampo, a sustainable agriculture and genetic engineering campaigner for Greenpeace Southeast Asia says:

“The FDA should stop feeding the public with propaganda. They are not truthful in saying that GMOs are safe for consumption. There is no scientific proof that GMOs pose no danger to human health and the environment. Even the scientific community is divided on whether GMOs are safe.”

In just one example of a recently corroborated study, Cry-toxins found in GMOs were linked to a higher rate of leukemia, and possibly other cancers.

Greenpeace sent a letter to the state this week urging them to be more forthcoming in the studies coming out on GMOs – even the ones that talk about cancer risks, organ failure, reproductive issues, the creation of colony collapse disorder (death of large numbers of bee colonies), soil depletion, and possibly even DNA alteration. The letter urged the FDA to disclose that “80 percent of the GMOs in the world are planted only in four countries, namely the (United States), Canada, Brazil and Argentina.” While scientists n countries largely outside of the US urge the general public to look closer at the benefits/harm that GMOs pose, the FDA announced that ‘eating GM foods is safe’, citing the Codex Alimentarius or the United Nations’ regulations on the safety of eating them.

Another concern raised by Greenpeace is the fact that genetically modified organisms can spread by interbreeding with natural, organic organisms, thereby contaminating them and creating for future generations, unforeseeable and possibly catastrophic health problems. Once GMOs take over a large portion of the crops planted throughout the world, they could, do, and will continue to contaminate unaltered crops for generations to come. They close their letter by stating our food supply is to precious to be messed with, especially when the science supporting GMO benignity is shoddy at best.

“The FDA should stop feeding the public with propaganda. They are not truthful in saying that GMOs are safe for consumption. There is no scientific proof that GMOs pose no danger to human health and the environment. Even the scientific community is divided on whether GMOs are safe,” said Daniel Ocampo.

You can join the efforts of activist organizations like Greenpeace and NaturalSociety by joining in the World Wide Monsanto Video Revolt happening on July 24th. It’s time to kick GMOs out of our food supply for good.

Monsanto is on the way out, they are a cancer of a corporation, and embody everything that is wrong with America, just like Merck does, just look at the Vioxx scandal. The US is always the last country to catch on, since industry employees work for the government and in the government and regulatory agencies (Michael Taylor, Clarence Thomas) and these companies bribe politicians to support their causes. It doesn’t matter what they do, civilians have now taken it into their own hands to label GMOs. These products need to be labeled just like cigarettes are labeled and the only way this country will become a democracy again and rise up from its plutocratic malaise is with what the people are doing now, take the law into your own hands and make them label. Boycott and picket any and all companies that still sell products with GMOs and bovine growth hormone! The government and these bad companies need to fear us, not the other way around. Folks the activist movement is just getting started, and it’s only going to get better from here, you can count on it!

A big thank you to Wikileaks and anyone else who exposes government, military and corporate corruption and puts money ahead of real science.

antiscience? take your head out of the sand, Monsanto is no different from the tobacco industry, using their money to cover up science. And if that wasnt bad enough there is the matter of them polluting the waters of Anniston Alabama with PCBs and Mercury. They dont even let their own employees’ children consume GMOs! There are numerous studies in the NIH database showing how dangerous these chemicals are.
